Lori Tolland was elected as Ormond Beach City Commissioner for Zone 1 in November 2022 and currently serves as Deputy Mayor. She brings thoughtful, community-centered leadership and decades of hands-on civic involvement to her role.
In addition to serving on the City Commission, Lori previously served on the Ormond Beach Planning Board from 2016–2022 and has been involved with the Recreational Advisory/Leisure Services Board since 2000. Her leadership has helped guide improvements to parks, recreation, and public spaces across the community.
Among the many projects she has led or supported are the reconstruction of the Greenhouse at the Ormond Beach Art Museum & Gardens, the creation of the Port Orange Hospice Center Native Plant Walkway, the first community gardens in Central Park, LED lighting at airport fields, girls’ softball field upgrades, South Ormond Community Center basketball upgrades, the Limitless Playground, and the Vadner Park project — a collaboration that became a finalist for the Garden Club of America National Award. She received the Garden Club of America Civic Volunteer Award in 2019 and the Conservation Award in 2022.

A registered nurse and longtime community advocate, Lori has proudly called Ormond Beach home since 1989. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Mount St. Mary’s University and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Maryland. She later completed a professional nurse refresher program with clinical training at St. Petersburg College.
Lori began her nursing career as a perioperative nurse at East Coast Surgery Center and later served as a nurse at Twin Lakes for Halifax Health. She also volunteered at the Jesus Clinic, providing medical care to working families in need.
Her community involvement spans decades. She has been a member of the Garden Club of Halifax Country since 2002 and serves as Development Chair and Executive Board member of the Catholic Foundation of Central Florida. Lori is also a board member of Father Lopez Catholic High School and previously served as PTA President for Tomoka Elementary School and Board President for Father Lopez Catholic High School.

Faith, family, and service are central to Lori’s life. She is a parishioner at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, where she serves as a Minister of Holy Communion and assists with baptism preparation. She has also taught CCD classes.
Lori and her husband Tim have been married for 42 years. They have seven children, five who are married, and sixteen grandchildren. In her free time, Lori enjoys gardening, playing tennis, and spending time with her family.
